Q – How much computer knowledge do I need in order to take online training?
A – To use online training, users should have a basic knowledge of computers. This should include, but is not limited to, the ability to use a mouse, of which involves knowing the difference between left-click and right-click; the ability to open and close documents and web pages; and the ability to navigate a website. Those with no computer experience at all may have trouble using our online training and, for their own benefit, may want to enroll in a basic computer training class before using any of our online courses.

A – The 40 Hour HAZWOPER Course can be taken entirely online, but keep in mind that students will need to be trained on how to use any protective equipment that they need as part of their job prior to using that equipment on any worksite. Q – Are your courses OSHA approved?
A – OSHA does not pre-approve HAZWOPER training at all. OSHA just sets forth regulation and they expect that employers and training provides abide by it when getting employees trained. Our courses are OSHA accepted which means that OSHA has always accepted our training certifications when employees have had to show them on job sites. For the 40 Hr class specifically our training meets the Federal OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3)(i) for general industry and 29 CFR 1926.65(e)(3)(i) for construction. This course is also intended to meet any HAZWOPER training requirements for the EPA and State OSHA regulations.

Q – What does OSHA say about online or computer-based HAZWOPER Refresher training?
A – See for yourself and go to: OSHA HAZWOPER FAQs
[ top ]

Q – What if it has been longer than 12 months since I received my refresher training?
A – This does not mean you must take the initial training all over again. Per OSHA, “If the date for refresher training has lapsed, the need to repeat the initial training must be determined based on the employee's familiarity with safety and health procedures used on site. The employee should take the next available refresher training course. There should be a record in the employee’s file indicating why the training has been delayed and when the training will be completed.”

Q – Our company is in the state of California, should I follow the federal HAZWOPER regulation or the state HAZWOPER regulation?
A – For any state to have its own HAZWOPER Refresher training regulation, it would have to meet or exceed the federal standards; therefore, you would be better off concentrating your efforts on meeting the state regulation. Doing this, by default, will cover you for the federal standard.
